Academy of Inventive Design and Technology brings to life the finest technical drawings by South Africa’s aspiring imaginations in one of the only simulated work environment campuses for draughting and design. Academy IDT’s combined years of experience, directors, accumulated by its founders, advisors and lecturers amounts to innumerable years of insight into both the educational and industrial aspects of draughting as well as a holistic approach to business. Whilst maintaining a relevance to the world of work, Academy IDT is proud to say that its students write national examinations at accredited centres — a process through which national qualifications are awarded.

In most draughting projects the various disciplines work together and your multi-disciplinary expertise will make you the go-to guy in any drawing-office team. You have full access to all office facilities that one would expect when working in a drawing office: your own workstation. Students may have the opportunity to work on client projects with CAD-Warehouse (our drawing-office) depending on their performance and level of skill. Over the years we have built up a network of loyal industry partners who prefer to employ IDT graduates. We go out-of-our way to effectively match our graduates with the best opportunity for them. CAD Warehouse (our Drawing-Office and Recruitment arm) offers a professional placement service. In any design or engineering drawing office, project deadlines are all-important. A technical drawing is useless until it is perfect. Academy IDT has a review process similar to what you would. We achieve this with a strenuous work-load and strict deadlines. Our mission is to make you as proficient as we can within the year. Most of your time is spent at your workstation draughting, with experts close at hand to offer guidance. Projects are set according to input from our industry partners and closely resemble what would be expected when you are employed. We’re the only draughting academy in South Africa offering Marine Draughting. Under the guidance of our Internationally trained Naval Architect, you will gain naval draughting theory, and use surface modelling to produce drawings for large vessels and yachts. Most of our graduates are successfully employed within a few months of finishing their studies. A small percentage are placed before they finish the full-time programme. There are many CAD platforms used in industry across the globe and by using a variety of platforms at an advanced level, we deliver a versatile draughtsperson who can adjust and adapt to any field of draughting in any country. Computer-aided design (CAD) draughtspeople communicate ideas and designs using drawings that include all the technical engineering specifications which the artisans and tradesmen understand and need in.
