Alpinist Safety Consultants (Pty) Ltd (ASC) was founded in 1995 by its two original directors who through their own passion for climbing and the related equipment identified that at that time South African companies were becoming more and more aware of the benefits of using climbing equipment for work at height especially where such equipment was designed specifically for the work environment. Since then the Work at Height industry as grown and we have gained a great deal of professional knowledge and experience to make us the undisputed leaders in the field of Fall Arrest and Rope Access in South Africa and today ASC operates nationally and extensively throughout Africa from our Cape Town and Durban offices, which feature warehousing and state-of-the-art indoor training facilities. ASC was the first company in Africa to obtain training and operational membership with IRATA International, the only global trade association in the work at height industry with member companies on every continent. ASC also offers SETA approved unit standard training courses for work at height. Our sales division provides a large range of internationally certified personal protective equipment for your staff to work safely at height. Our training division offers a range of standardized internationally recognized courses as well as bespoke courses that can be conducted at any of our three indoor facilities or conducted at your site with some minimal arrangements. Our Operational division has a range of services from on site surveys, protective equipment installations to full service teams covering offshore maintenance work, geotechnical rock slope stabilization services, telecommunications and signage installations. Due to their exposure to the elements, wind turbines require regular inspection and maintenance. The use of rope access equipment and techniques is by far the most cost-effective and efficient way to undertake maintenance of wind turbines with the combination of high wind limitations and rigorous safety requirements for levels of qualification and self-sufficient rescue plan as part of the SOP. ASC provides the skills necessary for this task in accordance with the IRATA International guidance document for wind turbines. This is a junior position, but there is scope for growth in the future for the right person. and B. WoF firefighters are recruited from marginalised communities and trained in fire awareness and education, prevention and fire suppression skills. The multi-million-rand job creation programme is primarily geared towards assisting Government to fulfill its job creation and social upliftment promise to the people of South Africa. In addition, WoF is mandated to implement Integrated Fire Management, which includes supporting the development of the FPA (Fire Protection Association) structure under the National Veld and Forest Fire Act of Thus prospective candidates must have a high school proficiency level of reading and speaking English in order to complete the course. This may only be achieved if the candidate is able to complete all physical lessons and the theoretical studying requirements made of him or her during the training period and successfully completing the independent assessment to the satisfaction of the independent assessor. If for physical reasons the candidate is unable to complete the course he can be booked on another course and such training will be charged for. The company trainer will make informed decisions regarding your performance during the training period and may decline your participation in assessment if he feels that you are not sufficiently prepared for assessment at the end of the training period. The trainer declines your eligibility to proceed to assessment in the initial training period. An additional period of training time shall be recommended to you, which shall be offered at a suitable later time and charged at discounted rates to you in order to assist you in preparing for a future assessment date. Candidates who are allowed to proceed with assessment and are unfortunate to fail the assessment shall be debriefed by the assessor and trainer as to the additional requirements that need to be undertaken in order to re-assess at a later date.
