What you should know about Asisa
These associations disbanded and their staff, assets and activities were transferred to ASISA. This coming together of the four associations marked the beginning of a new chapter for the savings and investment industry. ASISA’s strategic purpose and mandate is to continue to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and to remain a trusted partner to these stakeholders in the financial services industry. While it is ASISA’s role to ensure that the key contributions by ASISA members to support the nation’s savings, development and transformation initiatives are valued and recognised, we have also been tasked with ensuring that as a collective our industry remains relevant and sustainable. ASISA will work towards promoting a culture of savings and investment in South Africa by playing a significant role in the development of the social, economic and regulatory framework in which our members operate, thereby assisting members to serve their customers better. Actively promote a transformed, vibrant, and globally competitive financial sector that reflects the South African demographics. Develop and actively participate in education, transformation and social development projects. Engage with Government to ensure the creation of level playing fields for all members while at the same time promoting healthy competition. Particpates in the ASISA Foundation and its financial literacy projects, the Marketing & Distribution and Transformation Board Committees. Responsible for general administration and co-ordination of meetings and assists with updating the ASISA client relationship database. In addition, ASISA offers all its members a forum where issues of mutual interest and concern can be raised and solutions found. The structure of ASISA, through its various Technical Committees, enables members to engage with each other on an equal footing irrespective of size. Vote on matters dealt with at Annual General Meetings of the Association. The greater of the minimum fee OR a percentage of the Assets under Management (AUM) plus a percentage of the Premium Income (PI). Any institution or individual involved in a business activity which is complementary to the business of ASISA members, such as actuarial and investment consultants, accountants, lawyers, information providers, industry service providers, industry switches and software firms. Outsourced Service Providers and Investor Services Divisions of the custodian banks: Representatives may only serve on the Technical and Operations Board Committee and the relevant Standing Committees and Working Groups.
