Since its inception in 1995 Bukhara has set a new standard in Indian cuisine in South Africa, taking the eating culture from the corner curry house concept to an upmarket and modern interpretation through superior design, ambience and product. Bukhara specializes in various methods of Indian cooking, all with a slant to north Indian origins. Succulent meats cooked in the charcoal tandoor and aromatic curries continue to delight palates in Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Johannesburg. However, some regional specialties also feature on the extensive menu. This is the group’s Flagship restaurant, situated in the Central Business District of Cape Town City. Its proximity to the High court, Parliament and Central Businesses, has it frequented by high profile customers as well as international stars. One will find this elegant restaurant Bukhara bridging the Nelson Mandela Square and the reception of the Michelangelo hotel. In keeping with the Bukhara brand its walls are painted ochre, the floors are green ustedipur marble and the same handmade Teak furniture from Rajasthan is used. It opened its doors in 2001 and is situated in the district area of the Grand West Casino in Goodwood, often frequented by international stars and locals. Located on the first floor of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, these two famed restaurants, side by side, command perfect iconic views of Cape Town.Teak cut-out wooden screens, ustedipur green marble and their signature state of the art open kitchens, Bukhara and Haiku serve up their mouth watering cuisine under one roof, yet subtly separated from each other by decorative screens. Outdoor seating on the deck and the large glass folding doors enhances the experience.
