What you should know about Cape Insights
Was born on a farm in Africa, and after studying languages and history of art at the University of Cape Town, travelled extensively, sailing the oceans and crossing continents, before settling on the slopes of Table Mountain in Cape Town. You clearly know the landscape, foodscape & funscape like you know how to breathe. Following someone who loves what they’re sharing is a no-brainer. It’s almost like getting that perfect massage, just when you need it most. We’re also cultural interpreters, captivating raconteurs, as well as story-tellers deluxe who weave locals strands together to shine light and share clarity. Every detail is meticulously taken care of and we craft each day with enormous care We watch out for you, as opposed to micro manage you We choose welcoming hotels for their heart-felt hospitality, great location and quiet surroundings. Your friend will receive a legendary bottle of wine from a historic Cape vineyard that was good enough for Napoleon! Produced in the oldest wine region in the country, it’s a luscious dessert wine made in ways identical to its forbears two centuries ago, when it was prized throughout Europe by leaders and aristocracy of the time and lauded by the likes of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. It seems unthinkable that wild elephants should disappear. We select local initiatives such as family run hotels, owner managed restaurants and home grown suppliers, so as to unlock the economic potential of the tourism industry. We endorse the South Africa Sustainability Seafood Initiative, and abide by their approved seafood guidelines when making selections on clients’ behalf. We support The Biodiversity and Wine Initiative which applies biodiversity guidelines to the wine industry, by preferentially choosing its members when selecting wine estates to showcase. We are a member of the Open Africa network of Afrikatourism, a collaborative movement linking the splendours of Africa in a network of tourism routes from Cape to Cairo, with the aim of creating jobs in synergy with conservation. We work with Responsible Tourism which is about creating better places to live in and better places to visit. Its about putting people in the destinations first. Their livelihoods, their landscapes, their learnedness and their living culture. Treating local people with respect and fairness pays back by the bucket load because well cared for locals let us get closer to their culture, their people & their nature. We support Fair Trade in Tourism in South Africa and its members wherever possible, which is based on fair share, democracy, respect, reliability, transparency and sustainability.
