From inception, College SA's mission was to provide affordable distance learning to the many South Africans who could neither afford traditional tertiary education, nor meet the entry requirements of these institutions. This gap in the market gave College SA the opportunity to provide quality distance education to thousands of students. If a private provider wants to offer one or more National Qualifications, then that private provider needs to get accreditation to offer those qualifications. Umalusi accredits private providers of education and training (like College SA), as well as private assessment bodies, to offer tuition and/or assessment for qualification on the General and Further Education and Training Qualification Framework. FASSET also hosts and facilitates Workplace Skills Workshops that further train employers and employees within the financial, accounting and auditing professions. College SA has been accredited by the ICB to offer a variety of FASSET-accredited national qualifications. Opportunity to build on your qualification and further your education and training. Opportunity to attend Workplace Skills workshops (this is open to professionals in the bookkeeping and accounting sector regardless of their qualifications) The ICB has a sister organisation called the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and Accountants (ICBA). Learners who are studying towards one of these qualifications are also welcome to join the ICBA as student members. As an ICBA member, you can apply to update the letters (the designation) after your name based on new qualifications and/or work experience. They offer internationally-recognised information technology qualifications that train students for careers in information technology and development. Microsoft connects a network of Microsoft certified professionals and offers continuous support for IT professionals to develop and expand their skills. Certification which is in line with current technological advancements. CompTIA advances the global interests of IT professionals and they enable IT professionals to be more successful by developing and offering industry-leading IT Certifications, IT business credentials and education. The courses that aren’t accredited are called provider programmes. These courses address the need for skills development and training; for the purpose of self-enrichment, career development and self-employment. A provider programme has absolutely no external accreditation and it has no link to any professional body. Students are welcome to mention their provider programmes on their CV. A provider programme course is often more affordable than accredited qualifications. Use this as an opportunity for self-enrichment and development.
