communiTgrow offers a regenerative solution to building sustainable cities in Africa. communiTgrow relies on a network of organisations, individuals and companies who are experts in urban development and who share our ethos that well-managed urban development can drive economic and social growth in Africa. By partnering with governments and landowners, we deliver large-scale projects which maximise the potential of African communities. communiTgrow was started in 2006 in Cape Town in response to the need for community based solutions to urbanisation in the metropole and the rest of Africa. communiTgrow’s model for sustainable urban communities consists of Six Pillars that form the foundation of a regenerative community development, ensuring that people and the environment can flourish. communiTgrow is a assosiation of companies that bring together the disciplines of Community Development, Architecture, Environmental Management, Urban Design, Sustainability Planning, Development Planning, Property Development and Project Management to build integrated urban settlements. It is estimated that 800 new cities, consisting of a million people each, will be needed to accommodate everybody on the continent in the next 40 years. This presents us with the opportunity to proactively design thriving sustainable urban communities and regions. CommuniTgrow’s pilot project, Wescape, is situated in Cape Town where the city is faced with a housing backlog of almost half a million homes. Wescape will assist in providing solutions to many of the metropole’s economic expansion requirements and 20 year plan for education, housing and healthcare.
