From these humble beginnings, we’ve taken our spirit to the globe, making sure Nigel’s vision for what our customers want is delivered every time. In fact, if an idea doesn’t add value to our customers, our people, our brand or the community, we keep working on it until it does. Armed with a pile of denim acid wash sample jackets, he headed to the Beckley Market in Geelong and set up shop. Customers loved the jackets and were trying them on, however he left the market without making a sale. Disappointed but not deterred, Nigel chatted to his dad and returned the next week. As a Group, we’ve always believed in big ideas matched by a fierce will to bring them to life. It all started in the late eighties, when acid wash and lycra ruled the fashion world. Nigel Austin, our founder, grew up in Geelong with strong family ties to the rag trade. His dad owned a manufacturing and importing business and Nigel would spend school holidays learning the ropes with his dad in Hong Kong. Challenges are all part of it, but we always find time for a laugh. We've always been a family run business, ever since day one. For us, this notion of family extends across the globe. We stick together and are a close knit bunch who support each other to achieve big things. We get involved, roll up our sleeves and make things happen. When we put our minds to something, there's no stopping us. We have built a reputation on being open and honest. We're resourceful, take a hands on approach and have an optimistic view of the world. Knowing a good idea and being brave enough to run with it is what we're all about. We make the most of today and always look to tomorrow for new and exciting opportunities. Many of these ideas came about in our true relaxed style, while watching the footy, sitting on a plane or having a family barbecue. If it’s exciting, new and challenging, we’ll do whatever it takes to make it happen. Honest communication and transparent behaviour are critical to the survival of a good business. Resourceful people are a key part of our culture and success. Most people come to work every day to do a good job, our responsibility is to create an environment where they are motivated to contribute.
