Empire Cafe is a popular restaurant in York Road, Muizenberg. We also provide a free wireless internet connection for our patrons. We promote a relaxed, surf feel and offer excellent coffee, breakfast and lunch with a sea view.

Situated in the tourists’ popular surfing town of Muizenberg, Empire Cafe has excellent views of the ocean toward Seal Island, home of the Great White Shark. Customers enjoy the convivial atmosphere and excellent quality, robust meals. The Empire bakers provide real butter croissants, ciabatta & brown farm loaves daily, along with a wide range of biscuits and confectionery. The Empire Cafe is renowned for it’s excellent coffee. We focus on establishing the sweetest flavours from every bean with a perfect balance between rich mouthfeel, mouth watering acidity and luscious sweetness. Generous portions of free-range eggs, delicious bacon or porkies and tons of flavour. Dinner at Empire is inspired by local fresh ingredients. Mouth watering steak, fresh line-fish and sticky pork ribs amongst other dishes. Our home made burgers, on home made buns, continue to sell well. The ocean is a strong component in my photography (people are not, with rare exceptions). The goal is just to get the local crew together for a beer and a laugh. Both have enjoyed excellent attendance and it seems we are on to a good thing! It comes with chips and we prepared a lovely fruit chutney to go with it. Getting some resistance from entrenched staff though. From burgers to fish and chips, pastas to salads, sticky pork ribs to chicken wraps. To drink, we have fresh juices, gourmet milkshakes, craft beer to chai teas. Your choice of lamb, chicken and beef burgers with a range of sauces and sides. Complementing our gourmet hamburgers, we serve fresh line-fish, beef fillet, a range of pastas and special dishes. Empire Cafe has a wide range of seriously delicious breakfasts, accompanied by top-notch Tribe Coffee. Due to popular demand, we’re opening from Wednesdays to Saturdays, starting dates to be announced. We sell burgers every day, because that’s what you want, apparently. Big, crispy onion rings, Empire-made mayonnaise, potato chips, hand made, bread free burger patties, all our in house sauces, our own pickles, a great tranche of crispy iceberg lettuce for moisture and texture. We have ostrich, lamb, beef, free range chicken breast or a vegetarian patty made from channa flour (chickpea) and roast vegetables. Look at the burger image and you’ll probably see why: ) I’ve decided to include other meals for variety, including steaks, linefish and pastas, after all, not everyone wants burgers for dinner. I’m proud of our food and I’m proud of the restaurant and the vibe.
