James leads the Guarantee and Insurance Solutions team and has been involved in the short-term insurance industry since Initially he focused on developing and servicing the market for construction related guarantees. Later this offering was expanded to include contractors all risks, liability insurance, multi mark products and other insurance products. His career started with Woolworths and then moved into general management with the Tiger Oats Group. In 1996 he co-founded, a national Executive Search Consultancy and during 1998 he sold his company to the JSE listed Laser Group Ltd and was appointed a Director. On leaving the group he founded a consultancy that has managed a number of exciting projects. He has extensive commercial experience having worked in senior management within the banking industry with Ithala Bank and African Bank in addition to working with Khula Enterprise Finance as operations director within the Department of trade and Industry. His insurance experience includes employment within Santam in financial management and as operations executive within Naspers subsidiary M-Web where he initiated and managed the Ecommerce venture between Santam and M-Web to create the first online insurance platform in South Africa. Netcover was purchased from Santam and M-Web in 2002 in a management buyout and operates as an independent financial services provider with focus on group and corporate risk covers.
