Having a doula support you during birth can potentially offer you a more comfortable, shorter labour experience. Your doula will have been trained to provide emotional and physical support and information that will help empower you.

Moms to be is assisted to create their perfect birth space, helping them create a beautiful birth experience. The use of doula's have even been shown te decrease the need for interventions and reflects a lowered cesarean rate.
That doesn't mean that you can't use a doula for your planned cesarean! A doula can be a great comfort in theater if your partner isn't there or they have accompanied your newborn while your are being closed up, in the recovery room while you are waiting to be brought together with you baby and can offer excellent help with breastfeeding after cesarean (it can be tricky).
