Sean Kelland is a professional South African wedding photographer who is based in the beautiful Natal Midlands and has photographed mainly in The Western Cape and Natal Midlands. Sean has been photographing weddings since 2007 and offers an inconspicuous photojournalistic style which will tell the story of your day in a creative and honest way. There is something magical about capturing an emotion that tells a story. It almost feels like a race or a long journey which is about to start. So it used to be easy, have a chat to your local church minister, organise the church, then order a ridiculous amount of drapes and make the town hall look slightly better than it did when you were there for your matric dance. Add some flowers from your Aunt who likes flowers and get your gran to make a cake. Your brother likes music so he will bring his collection and blast the old folk with his modern tunes. To begin with, let me strongly say this: your wedding day does not and should not revolve around the photographs or the photographer. Your wedding is not a film production or a cover shoot for a glossy magazine; it is about you and your partner celebrating your love and dedication to each other in front of and together with your family and friends. You get it from all sides, your mother, your already married friends, those that aren’t married and asking why the hell you are doing this, the wonderful world wide web with its bar raising pinterest and pretty blogs telling you what’s in and what’s not, a tirade of information, no full stops, a few comma’s and you feel out of breath, paddling in a gigantic sea of petals, venues and guest lists. How much media noise and parental noise gets in the way of that? It was sad actually, all the money spent on impressing and all that show, but no real love. Sean Kelland is a professional wedding photographer who has been involved in the industry for about 8 years and loves telling the story of lovely couples’ weddings, the love, the conversations, the emotions and the laughter. Dot and Warren wanted their wedding day to be a day enjoyed by all, where guests would interact and have fun together celebrating the joining of their dear friends in marriage. It was so special to be a part of their day and watch their family and friends celebrate with them. It was lovely to see such a humble and loving attitude and it showed at their wedding. It has definitely set such a wonderful foundation for their life ahead. Dot and Warren, it was a pleasure being there witnessing the two of you join together in the wonderful act of marriage, may the coming years bring you and your friends much joy, happiness and great times.
