From there the company relocated to Ndabeni in 2006 and since then expanded to occupy 3 units in a business park in Ndabeni. Staff numbers increased from 2 ladies in 2004 to employing 45 staff currently. What happens when a fast-moving consumer packaged goods company takes hands with a dynamic baking company with a heart for rebuilding the social fabric of the Khayelitsha community? Empowered women, improved efficiency and an exciting range of delicious biscuits for South African little ones! We are very proud to announce that we are the runners up in the Small Business Awards hosted by Cape Talk and Softline Pastel! Since 2004 when we were introduced to a group of women who had received some training at a community centre in Khayelitsha, but no follow-up support. We put our heads together and, against all odds, started a business. Today we have a team and business model that any corporate would be proud of! Yes, we have a trust that is owned by women who have been on the team for a certain amount of time. Our desire is that ladies not only benefit from being employed and feeding their families, but can be real owners of the company and have a share in future success. We are doing flick-flacks at the growth in our employment numbers, as well as the quality of our team. This is a huge achievement for our team and we are over the moon.
