I am an architect, programme manager and construction development manager offering more than 20 years of wide and varied experience in the built environment. I am dedicated to real projects with sound planning, effective project management, an African heritage, realistic budgeting and uncompromised teamwork. My primary focus is to create buildings and environments truly reflecting their context and place while striving to be as sustainable and energy-efficient as possible.
My approach to buildings has taken me to a practical, uncluttered and simplistic level. I benefit from 21 years’ experience of contract management, project administration, design detailing with competent associates, client interactions, legal negotiations, bylaw interpretations and time management on all levels. This has given me the personal confidence and skills to realize a design philosophy influenced by international deconstruction theorists which enables the architect to design the function rather than the object. To this end, my buildings portray simple and familiar shapes, with materials reflecting their original colours and shape.

PROFESSIONAL CONTRIBUTION:   After almost 23 years in the business I am now have:   1. An understanding of town-planning and town-planning schemes. 2. An in-depth understanding of floor-area (space)-ratios, density zones, development rights, coverage restrictions, height restrictions and parking requirements. 3. An understanding of the town-planning application process and various other development application processes necessary to property development. 4. An explanation of the key result stages of a township-application and property development process. 5. Complete knowledge of the considerations necessary for a new- or extended- property development. 6. An understanding of property-construction principles. 7. An understanding of property development principles. 8. An understanding of property development feasibilities. 9. The ability to understand how to develop a financial feasibility model. 10. The process of site investigation for property development purposes.

SUSTAINABLE GREEN AND MODERN ARCHITECTURE
Ø  Monitoring the process of construction and managing the performance of the main contractors on site in terms of the following criteria: a.       Cost control and budget planning b.      Programme for the works planning and updating c.       Quality control d.      Contractual compliance e.       Month end reporting and claims for payment f.        Preliminaries and general planning g.      Bills of quantities monitoring and planning h.      Assistance with the interaction between the professional team and the main contractor i.        Assistance with claims for the extension of the date for PRACTICAL COMPLETION  j.        Assisting the main contractor with any claims for additional costs as allowed for in the JBCC. ·         As Urban designer I undertook the following roles: a.    Analysis of the ‘existing situation” b.    Information regarding the potential project with reference to locality, erf size, existing zoning, ownership or any other information as needed c.    Identification of development potential d.    Creation of a MASTERPLAN e.    Indication of additional sources of funding f.     Role players to be involved g.    Long term sustainability of such a project h.    Socio-economic impact on the surrounding community   As project manager my role involves inter alia: ·         Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines. ·         Determine labour requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites. ·         Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations. ·         Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer. ·         Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors. ·         Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
