Design and development of LED lighting solutions. LED Lighting Suppliers, Cape Town, South Africa.

The business’ head office and factory are in Cape Town with sales offices in Durban and Johannesburg. We also have sales representation in the Namibian market. The business is run openly and ethically and we welcome factory visits for suppliers and customers. We perform all of our own design, manufacture and supply. We have built an extensive knowledge in these areas for more than ten years and this enables us to provide quality product and support to our customers. Because LED systems are configurable, design has to be at the heart of any supplier who hopes to exactly meet their customers’ requirements. Knowledge of manufacture is important in steering the design process. Product design is performed from the outset with production simplicity in mind. This brings quality, consistency and reliability to the product. Supplying LED lighting requires technical knowledge. For traditional lighting, training on the products in the catalogue was sufficient. With LED the sales team has to understand solutions in order to meet the customer’s brief. The business is a specialist LED-only B2B solution provider. While traditional lighting companies supply fittings with bulbs or tubes, modern lighting systems are based on complete smart, electronic luminaires. The business has expanded its range to cover all aspects of lighting for commercial, retail and industrial applications. The business also produces lighting for rail and other transport applications. Cove lighting in shopping centres can at the best of times be an incredible challenge, but at the end of 2015 RWP engineering consultants gave us a task that ensured we put our best foot forward. After more than 9 large scale shopping centres you would expect this to be just another request, but there were some interesting challenges. The requirement set out was to gain a set lux level while reducing the direct lighting proportion to almost zero. This poses a massive challenge when reflecting light off a ceiling as the proportion of lost light is very high. Through clever product specification an engineering a solution was found that matched the client’s brief. The main objective was to drastically increase lighting levels throughout the mall while reducing the required maintenance and overall wattage of the installation. This all needed to be achieved whilst still utilizing the same lighting positions of the original lighting design. While this was the correct product, adjustments needed to me made in order to meet the brief. The problem was brought forward to the engineering team that the standard strip wattage and lumen package was not achieving the average lux required by the customer. The required light levels were increased and achieved throughout the mall while drastically reducing the maintenance period. Achieving the high average lux levels while using reflected light off the ceiling within the shopping was a difficult task. But through careful product specification and manufacture the outcome has been extremely successful.
