What you should know about Let It Rain Films
Let It Rain is named after the sheer joy the first rains bring to a parched land. That energising transformation is at the heart of everything we do. The company is a vibrant partnership between Lee Doig (Director) and Sam Kelly (Producer), recently joined by Gavin Williams (Director) who will co-direct humour boards with Lee. The collective passion, talent and can-do it NOW attitude of Let it Rain Films ensures that every project inspires and succeeds while a whole lot of fun is had in the process. Every undertaking; whether it is a commercial, a feature film, a documentary, branded content or television spot is approached with a unique vision, passion, skill and integrity. This has led to Let it Rain’s many ongoing, bountiful relationships with both suppliers and clients. With the ability to capture lightning in a bottle, Lee is a director in his own right and co-directs some boards with Gavin. If a camera was a gun, Lee would have very weird trophy's adorning the wall of his drawing room, because he's shot literally everything there is to shoot. From television ads to long format TV shows and movies and everything imaginable in between. Every cloud has a silver lining one and Sam Kelly is ours. She is also the calm centre of the storm of everything swirling around her which is just one of the aspects of this crazy job Sam takes in her stride. With over 24 years of experience in the game, there isn't anything or anyone she doesn't know to solve any issue you (or usually Lee and Gavin) have. Like the high veld thunderstorm where he's from Gavin can be loud but also thoughtful and energetic. He is one of the first South Africans to ever feature on MTV worldwide along with his Crazy Monkey crew. He is obsessed with popular (and more obscure) culture in almost any form and takes delight in writing, especially great dialogue and humour. Breezing in from the North, this all-encompassing storm Nico Nyoni seemingly has the ability to be everywhere at once and he's had to be as he climbed the production ladder the hard way by helping out on behind the scenes and 2nd Unit direction on Let It Rain TV commercials. He is also probably the first surfer from Bulawayo. Elise is as surprising and refreshing as a sudden downpour in the tropics, which is fitting given her exotic looks (she was once a body double for Halle Berry!). After being one of 1000s of extras in a beer commercial she started her long journey into film production behind, instead of in front of the camera. Working her way up gradually she now has over 16 years of experience and two sons aged 16 and 20 who are also involved in the film industry. Carey is unlike just about every other financial person with a in that she loves the ocean, travel (she took a 5 year gap year after studying her Bcomm at UCT), yoga (she remarkably sits in a balanced yoga position while balancing the books). She has an 8 year old son she obviously adores and spends her time with either him or us or both.
