Since 2011, the Livewell Group has been at the forefront of dementia and Alzheimer’s care in South Africa. At Livewell, our highest commitment is to the individual. We combine specialised care with warmth and a luxurious environment and we adhere to regularly monitored global best practices. Our internationally recognised Livewell Villages (Best Retirement Development Africa and South Africa 2013/2014) are purpose-built memory-care communities that have been designed with the health, dignity and well-being of a person living with dementia in mind. The Livewell Companions are specially trained individuals who visit your family member every week and spend time forming a friendship and taking part in favourite Activities with our residents. The model provides a wonderful backdrop into what a family care provider of a person living with dementia needs. We have used this model as a guideline to our conference content with the aim of ensuring we meet most of the needs of care providers. She has a private practice in Cape Town and works as a Specialist in the Care of the Elderly. She has special interests in Dementia management and care and in older persons with multi-morbidity. The book has been written to encourage and support family members who are alongside someone in their family living with a fatal illness. It has been selling well despite its title and is to be produced this year in New Zealand and Australia. My love of Nature and my personal and career journeys led me to create the coaching practice, Heart of Nature. Occupational Therapist, qualified in 2013 from the University of the Western Cape, as a student Lou-ann completed her 8 week practical at Livewell and developed a passion for working with persons with dementia and within the field of older adults. She completed her community service in Bela-Bela in Limpopo in 2014 and started working at Livewell in Lou-Ann’s passion is around problem solving within the dementia context as well as finding creative ways in which to improve the quality of life of persons with dementia. Karin was fortunate to receive formal training in dementia care by Dementia UK, while she was employed as a social worker at Dementia SA. She has many years experience with regards to helping others, she is a Qualified Life Line and Trauma Counsellor and was also involved in managing the Soweto Workshop for the Blind. Abraham has a passion for people and providing them with objective advice regarding the wealth they have worked so hard to create. Abraham enjoys good food and wine and being active, preferably somewhere on a river or the ocean or taking a walk down rolling green pastures and knocking a tiny little white ball around. He has acted in a variety of exciting retirement developments, consulting projects, overseen management agreements and offered consulting services to developer clients and other professional bodies. Ivan enjoys contributing towards the development of individuals (self-help), companies, products and brands.
