Megs Mutts online pet shop and rescue. We stock a variety of well priced items from collars to cages, dog clothing, leads, dog books, chew toys rabbit cages and lots more.

We believe in uplifting communities by providing them with the tools and skills to sustain themselves. Hand outs will only treat the symptom and not the cause and we prefer to offer a more sustainable approach. We rescue and rehome as well as assist a small container school and run various other initiatives. We are a home based shelter and most of our rescues are animals that have been brought in to the local vet to be euthanized. Megs Mutts Rescue is an organisation that is involved in the rehabilitation of abandoned, neglected and abused animals as well as the upliftment of the communities we serve. We are devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of lost, abandoned and neglected animals. We are a No cage No kill shelter do not believe in euthanasia, except in the most extreme cases. If you know of any animal abuse or neglect, please report it to us so that we can help the animal as soon as possible. Many of our furies are animals brought in to the local vet to be euthanized and saved by kind heart animal welfare officers, pups confiscated from puppy sellers and dogs no longer wanted by their owners. We do on occasion take cats and kittens but work closely with June from cat trapping and sterilization who is well versed when it comes to felines. We do have a few resident dogs that have remained in our care because of either medical or behavioral issues and some are simply to old and have been through so much trauma we don't have the heart to put them though adoption trials. However there are important elements to have in mind before making the commitment of adopting an animal, so please take the time to read carefully the information provided below: Do you have the time to love and care for an animal? This includes play, training and simply spending time with him/her. Dogs are social animals and do not do well for long periods alone. Thy can develop behavioral problems if neglected or not trained. Can you afford a dog/catIt’s not just the cost of adoption and food to consider, there are vet fees, medication, flea treatments, emergency vet care etc. Individuals in rental accommodations should verify if their landlords accept pets and ensure they have written permission to own a pet in the home. Puppies can’t be adopted if they will be left alone at home with no form of human companionship or that of another animal or for more than 6 hours a day. If you have a pool it has to be enclosed, covered or fenced in to ensure the puppy doesn’t fall in and drown, when puppy is around the pool there must be supervision. Puppies have to go to puppy classes as well as socialization classes, obedience training etc. Doing this they may never develop behavioral problems or aggression toward other dogs, people and children. Should you choose to have this done by your private vet, proof of sterilization must be sent to us. Our rescue dogs are made for families filled with love and affection not cold nights alone barking profusely at strangers to protect your property. We do have dogs who independently choose to sleep outside and this is fine but if the dog you choose will sleep outside it has to be in a covered, warm kennel, but they must be allowed inside to bond and be a part of their new family. On thunder storm evenings and when firecrackers are shot or it’s extremely cold outside we prefer them to be inside with you. Adopt only if you can cater for that dog’s specific needs i.e. very energetic and needs to be exercised, walked and run every day, dogs with physical disabilities, health problem etc.
