What you should know about Mother City Living
Mother City Living is about living the good life in Cape Town, the Mother City. We’re for natural things, of organic foods, original crafts, restaurants that are not chains, small shops and cafes. We’re for slow food, not fast food, and believe in finding out where food comes from, and how it was created. Food markets are our playground, so expect to hear plenty about those (and there are so many of them these days!) Pia Taylor is a freelance web designer living, working and playing in ever-so beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. This includes scientific and strategic management, collection of research data, writing of reports, and publication of research results in peer-reviewed journals. Visit our market guide to find out where and when your local food or craft market is being held. Browse through our event calendar listings to find out what’s on in Cape Town right now! We’ve just discovered a new co-working office environment in Woodstock’s trendy Biscuit Mill. A quest to find promotional bags and gifts led us to discover Township, a social enterprise that celebrates local creativity and provides opportunities for township women to earn an income. The annual Festive Ideas Market at Simondium’s Country Lodge promises to be bigger and better than ever before. The Big Bottle Wine Festival is a weekend-long celebration of wine-tasting and food-pairing at the beautiful Cellars-Hohenort in Constantia. Made in the Cape at Cavendish Square is one of my personal favourites on the market calendar. The Elgin Cool Wine & Country Festival is a new event showcasing wineries on the Elgin Valley Wine Route. It's that time of year again, when ceramics fans go weak at the knees and set their alarm clocks for a morning of serious pottery shopping under the trees at Rondebosch Park. Cape Town is fast becoming a hotspot for craft beer, and this February the Craft Beer Project will be holding a two-day festival in honour of these much-loved brews.
