Once off monetary contributions, whilst adding much needed BEE points, generally do little to endear an organisation to its local community beyond the actual Rand value of the contribution. On the other hand, an initiative that continues to benefit a community beyond the immediate, has the potential to uplift the community into perpetuity. One such initiative was the decision to build an additional classroom at Kwamazambane School situated in Kosi Bay. At the time, the school did not even have sufficient classrooms to separate the various grades. After visiting a number of schools in the area during Kwamazambane School was identified as being the most deserving beneficiary. Performance Colour Systems partnered with Palm Tree Lodge to manage the project to completion. Aside from the direct impact of adding an additional classroom to Kwamazambane School, this project also indirectly benefited the surrounding community through the use of local expertise in building, as well as using locally manufactured materials throughout.
