What you should know about Retail Africa

Management in Cape Town, Design in Cape Town, Mall in Cape Town, Property Matters in Cape Town

Retail Africa's focus in its early years was on developing neighbourhood convenience shopping centres invariably with Woolworths Foods and Pick 'n Pay as the anchor tenants.
They proved highly successful and, with their distinctive modern look and efficient design, they put Retail Africa on the retail property development map.
Irene Village Mall, with its distinctive open air design, has become an entertainment destination and it remains an icon development in Retail Africa's expanding portfolio.
With innovative design so much a part of Retail Africa's origins, it was no surprise when its first regional shopping centre, Irene Village Mall, won numerous awards, including the prestigious Retail Design and Development Award, when it opened in 2008.

This philosophy refers to a world that transcends convention and outdated trends, and which has its roots firmly grounded in a deep understanding of the retail market. The company’s success grew out of the successful blending of each team members skills, underpinned by a shared passion for the retail property industry. Initially, the company focused on developing neighbourhood convenience shopping centres. The efficiency of the team’s approach and the distinctive design of the centres quickly put Retail Africa on the retail development map. The company rapidly built up a significant portfolio of small shopping centres. With its reputation as a dynamic and fast-moving operation entrenched, Retail Africa elected not to sell its developments and instead housed these shopping centres in a property investment fund named RAPFund. The decision to make the transition from property developers to property owners was a major turning point for the Retail Africa team. Over the next five years RAPFund grew into a focussed private investment shopping centre fund of enviable quality. Another key development for Retail Africa was the decision to diversify into larger, regional shopping centres. The invaluable experience gained through the successful sourcing, facilitation and leasing of Longbeach Mall Clearwater Mall, Woodlands Boulevard and Hillcrest Boulevard stood Retail Africa in good stead when it jointly developed the 38 000m2 Mountain Mill Mall in Worcester. The development of other regional centres followed in quick succession.
