SAARP believes that senior citizens are entitled to a secure and rewarding existence in line with the highest moral principles of mankind.
In 1996 the Registrar approved the restructured Articles of Association for SAARP to be incorporated as a company under Section 21 of the Companies Act.
SAARP (South African Association of Retired Persons) was originally established in 1982.
We are, in essence, a service organisation in terms of the registered Memorandum and Articles of Association and we exist solely for our members.

We phoned and were put through to Beverly Nunes and gave her our details. She called back the next day with the best deal that she was able to get. We are very grateful and appreciate the effort that Beverly put in for us. Both resorts are top class and the facilities are just beyond compare. Even if you asked the Cleaner where the pool was, she would switch off the vacuum cleaner (in another chalet) and take you there with a lovely smile as if you are royalty. Last year Ingrid Green told her members that she was organising a five day mystery trip. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, as did everyone else. Lovely accommodation, delicious food (too much of it! ), a comfortable journey with our safe driver, Peter. The visits you arranged were interesting and delightful. All your wonderful plans came to fruition with much fun, interest and bonhomie. A great crowd of people who all mixed well and were so enthusiastic about all the things that you had laid on. By holding monthly meetings and organizing entertainment, lunches and outings, the Social Clubs provide an opportunity for older persons to meet and interact. They provide persons with the opportunity to serve on the various branch committees. Selected branches also offer computer training thereby enabling people to keep in touch with their children via e-mail and the World Wide Web. Anyone above the age of 50 can join, whether you are on pension, employed or not. SAARP believes that senior citizens are entitled to a secure and rewarding existence in line with the highest moral principles of mankind. We work with vigour to enrich lives, raise self-esteem and influence society to support these ideals. SAARP was started in 1982, with the aim of promoting the interests of senior citizens in South Africa. If there were more like you running the show, SA would be thriving. SAARP offers a free will service without drafting or holding costs and discounted executors fees. While SAARP endeavours to meet the economic needs of older persons, its Social Services arm deals with the problems of loneliness through the creation and maintenance of social clubs. There are no drafting or holding costs and we offer discounted executor’s fees below the charged legal maximum. Many members have expressed the wish that we speed up the establishment of the relationship of trust whereby SAARP is nominated as a co-executor of our members’ wills. As a result we have negotiated a special deal for members that enables us to ensure savings on the costs of executing a will. It will assist your heirs to quickly and efficiently access and provide the variety of documents required after a death. You can place them in a sealed envelope with your will.) This is given to members who are able to produce their SAARP membership card when requiring these services. There is no cost involved in qualifying for the benefit. A form to save long involved explanations in event of emergency hospitalisation and to provide a full and up to date medical history for medical professionals. If you are unconscious it will assist those treating you in carrying on with your usual medication and ensuring that what they give you does not clash with your current medication. it is important to note that this offer is available to SAARP members who pay for the service in cash and does not apply to members who want the payment to be made by their medical schemes. There are 28 of these scattered across the country. They are run by committees of volunteers and charge a small annual membership fee to cover their running costs. Enjoy your retirement and meet with like-minded people in your area.
