Solergy has a core focus on quality systems that are attuned to the South African climate. Solergy has a core focus on quality heat pump systems that are attuned to the South African climate. Our main priority is to ensure our customers always receive accurate information and are offered the best technology for their specific application. The principle is the same as the one that powers your refrigerator or air-conditioner. Heat is collected from one space, and released into another. In the case of your refrigerator, the heat inside the fridge is collected, and moved into the kitchen. In the case of your air-conditioner, the heat is extracted from your room, and exchanged to the outside of your home. The difference in the temperature of the air and the gas in the system is the key. They transfer the heat from the ambient air into your geyser your hot water, thereby heating the water. The science behind it is based on the expansion and compression of refrigerant gas. When gas is expanded it absorbs heat, and when it is compressed it gives off heat. The heat pump system has three major components: A heat exchanger in the unit to absorb heat, a compressor to compress the gas, and a heat exchanger next to the geyser to heat the water. Once the heat pump is turned on, the gas in the heat pump unit is expanded using a decompression valve. This decompressed gas absorbs heat from the air and the mechanical components in the unit. The gas is then compressed using the compressor making it incredibly hot and this is piped to the heat exchanger next to the geyser. A circulation pump moves the water through the heat exchanger where it runs over the coiled a gas pipe containing the hot gas and the heat is transferred to the water, cooling the gas. The cooled gas is then returned to the heat pump, and the cycle repeats until the water reached the target temperature.
