Welcome to the Spotlight Drama Studio.

Spotlight Drama Studio aims to develop the whole child by encouraging creative thought and ideas providing opportunities for the expression of those ideas through the medium of drama. By working in groups, children learn to respect one another, to interrelate positively and to communicate effectively. Voice production, mime, movement, improvisation, characterization, play building and acting technique. A public production is held annually where children are given the opportunity of performing for an audience, thus sharing their ideas and creative processes while growing in confidence. Eisteddfod and exams can also be entered on a solo basis for further extension, providing a more formal assessment structure. Drama can be of a benefit to all children and assist them in reaching their full potential. Deborah has been teaching drama for 29 years, at various high schools, primary schools and preschools. She has been running Spotlight Drama Studio for the last 21 years. Deborah has a passion for teaching drama to young people, she also loves acting on stage when given the chance! Some of the schools at which she has taught include Western Province Prep, The Grove Primary, The Rock Academy & Westerford High School. The Cape Town Eisteddfod is held in June every year. Spotlight trains those who would like to enter as an individual or in pairs. These are internationally recognised and are an indication as to the level the student has attained in performance drama and are advantageous when applying for tertiary positions. In 2105 Courtnay Pinheiro was awarded The Exhibition Award, which included a medal, monetary prize and certificate for coming in the top in the country for her Grade 8 level exam.
