i. TCOE is a national organisation that operates mainly in the rural areas of South Africa. TCOE has six affiliates and these regional operations have their own governance structures and regional support staff. The main work and experience of the organisation in the past ten years has been to stimulate the building of local organisations, local leadership and assist these associations to access land and productive assets to improve their livelihoods. We seek to contribute to the transformation of the countryside through the building of an independent movement of the rural poor (small farmers, land rights forums, producer co-operatives, small stock-holders, rural women’s groups) that are capable of articulating their own interests\. Through undertaking community action research(PAR) develop advocacy strategies for new policies and practice in relation to land and agrarian reform addressed to the relevant level of government\. Work with small holders to ensure greater levels of food sovereignty, awareness of the environment and a keen sense of alternatives to the dominant commercial agricultural models; and. Join TCOEs sustainability fund and assist us in our efforts to support the rural poor. Bongo Male Mr Bongo is a founder member of Masifundise and is involved with the organisation since its inception. With its more than six million people, the Eastern Cape has the third-largest provincial population, living on about 169 600km² of land. This makes Limpopo the 4th most populated province in the country. 43% of the province's population is under the age of 55% of the population is functionally urbanised but only a third live in official towns. Sekhukune (where Maruleng municipality is situated) represents one of the most densely populated but poor rural areas of Limpopo.
