Tekkie Town found a niche in the South African sports and lifestyle footwear market ten years ago due to the lack of service, attention to customer's needs and the unchecked inflation of product prices in the market place. Tekkie Town was also brave enough to identify and open stores in rural South Africa, living close to our purpose of bringing branded footwear to all South Africans at the best possible prices. Braam is the founder of Tekkie Town and the company’s majority shareholder. He is the Chairman of the Tekkie Town board of directors. He grew this investment organically into Tekkie Town. Bernard works closely with Braam and the executive team in their focus on the company’s strategy, culture and efficiencies. He holds a B.Comm and B.Hons degrees from the University of Stellenbosch and an MBA (Cum Laude) from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business where he was named the Recipient of the Alan Gray Award as the best student in the field of strategy. A retailer at heart, Dawie was one of our first store managers and has been a part of our family since Dawie assists Braam in the management of our property portfolio and he is responsible for all line functions that guide our stores to operate optimally. She has overall responsibility for finance and accounting functions at Tekkie Town. Previously with Bidvest, Yolind has strengthened our structures and disciplines significantly and focuses intensely on ensuring Tekkie Town’s reporting structures underpins and guides the company’s strategic initiatives. Formerly from Tsogo Sun, Robin has over 20 years of commercial experience, and has a great ability to manage people and their essential role in the development of the organisation. As a chartered Accountant, Robin also heads up the credit side of the business and is key in integrating the synergies that credit has to offer. He has fulfilled various senior roles within Tekkie Town through this period and today heads up the procurement of Tekkie Town’s merchandise. Michael has a deep endemic knowledge of the Southern Africa footwear market and the buying team he leads plays a vital role in the fulfilment of Tekkie Town’s strategy. Gert was one of the founding employees of Tekkie Town and joined Braam in He is in charge of all store development, store roll-out and management of merchandise and merchandise presentation. Having served as a store manager for many years and with the benefit of having opened every one of our stores, Gert has a unique understanding of our strategy, our stores and our consumers. Willem started out as one of our I.T Field Technicians in 2007, opening and servicing the majority of our northern region branches. He also worked as an Area Manager, after which he joined our Head Office in 2009, managing our systems and. Wessel joined Tekkie Town in 2012 after he spent eight years in the UK. He honed his skills as a project- and contracts manager in the construction industry and is in charge of all maintenance pertaining to our stores and warehouse. He is also actively working on reducing our energy footprint going forward, which includes investigating all new energy saving technologies, and is in charge of the Tekkie Town fleet which currently consists of 50 vehicles.
