The decision was influenced mainly by the shop's wonderful view of the mountains and sea. Independent bookshops have become an endangered species in recent years because of the trend towards larger chain stores but the Bay Bookshop offers a level of personalised service and a tailored selection of stock that can only be achieved by a dedicated and experienced team. The bookshops' founders, Steve Davies and Pierre Engel, have decades of bookselling experience between them, both in South Africa and in London. We have taken special care to assemble a stock selection we trust will appeal to a varied market. Apart from general fiction, South African titles and children's books we are always updating our selection of specialist reference, biography, history, design, cookery and travel sections. Book clubs are welcome (we offer the usual discounts and appro service to registered book clubs) and we are able to source unusual or difficult-to-obtain titles from our US and UK suppliers. Our loyalty scheme is simple and doesn't require you to carry a card or remember a number.
