Our roots are firmly in the Cape, and today the company that started out as a family business has been taken over by Jeff Katz who has been involved in a family business for 30 years. He firmly believes in the traditional values associated with a family business and is intent in allowing the ethos of Ticktin Timbers to flow as before. Respected timber merchant and supplier of high quality hardwoods, softwoods, decking, board products and machining services to shop fitters, cabinet makers, joiners, the shipping industry, decking and boardwalk manufacturers, builders merchants and DIY market. Ticktin Timbers uses only the finest quality hardwoods from North America, West Africa, South East Asia, Europe and Brazil, selling it to the market in bundles or as loose boards. Our softwood stocks include various grades of South African pine i.e. Balau is a tropical hardwood that is dense, tightly grained and heavily laden with rich tropical oils and resins. Balau has similar characteristics to Teak but at a much lower cost.
