Our current product range consists of Tydstroom Fresh Farm products (whole chickens, Chunks, Hearts, Livers, Gizzards, portions and IQF-range) and Groovy tertiary products (Necks, braaipacks, Tydstroom Frozen products (whole chickens, portions and Value Added products), braaipacks, Soup Packs and Heads and Feet).
Tydstroom Poultry Farms form part of Quantum Foods and our Head Office is situated outside Durbanville in the Western Cape. Tydstroom is also a producer of major retailer/dealer-own brand products in the Western and Eastern Cape. We distribute fresh and frozen chicken products to the South African market, Atlantis, from our Durbanville, as well as Namibia and Angola, Hartbeespoort and Edenvale plants.

Quantum Foods is a diversified feeds and poultry business providing quality animal protein to selected South African and African markets. Quantum Foods is a focused primary agricultural business that has four focus areas namely animal feeds, eggs & layer livestock, broilers and related businesses on the African continent outside South Africa. The Company has received various notices of a company attempting to apply for credit in the name of Quantum Foods and using falsified company information. Quantum Foods is a diversified feed and poultry business that provides quality animal protein to selected South African and African markets. Quantum Foods has fully integrated egg and broiler businesses with access to superior genetics in both fields. The Feed Producing Unit has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and a strategic alliance with an international company to ensure cutting edge technology transfer. Quantum Foods’ head office is situated in the town of Wellington in the Western Cape. It supplies feed solutions to the in-house poultry operation as well as external customers in the Poultry, Dairy, Sheep, Ostrich, Pig and Cattle feed segments. Eggs are sold under the Nulaid, Safe Eggs Quantum, and retailers’ own brands, while layer livestock (day-old chicks and point-of-lay hens of the Lohmann breed) are sold under the Bergvlei Chicks brand. Quantum Foods is the largest producer of eggs in South Africa. Nulaid produces point of lay birds for own use and sale to external customers. This has resulted in the alignment of the broiler value chain with the strategy, with the Group having exited the broiler meat market entirely to focus on its position as a significant contract grower in South Africa. The Group also sells broiler hatching eggs and broiler day-old chicks to the market to ensure that its broiler breeder production capacity is utilised efficiently. Quantum Foods has experience in doing business in Africa since 1996 and has sold livestock in Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Angola, Zambia, Uganda and Tanzania. Today Quantum Foods have operating businesses in Zambia and Uganda. Operations are conducted in three areas in the country, namely Lusaka, Chingola and Chipata. In Lusaka, there is a parent breeding facility, a hatchery, a feed mill and a small laying facility. Quantum Foods Zambia’s major egg operation is located near Chingola in the Copperbelt and operates under the Mega Eggs brand. Quantum Foods Uganda commenced operations in 2000 and currently operates three farms located near Kampala. The farms comprise a parent breeding facility, a hatchery and a feed mill. The business comprises a table egg business located near Maputo, which supplies both the retail and informal markets.
