The fund acquires an existing or greenfield farm and selects and recommends a skilled operator to manage the farm and improve productivity while leasing it back to the appointed operator. Capital gain on land and lease income enters the fund’s cash flow, profits from the farm under fund ownership are also fed into the fund. Good environmental and social governance is an integral part of UFF’s investment process. Working from a global perspective we are experts in both farm operation assessment and farmland investment management. Food production will need to increase at the same rate to meet the demand. Social Responsibility is a key component in UFF’s investment process; reducing poverty through worker and community development, rural development and economic empowerment. We are committed to sustainable development and continuous improvement of labour conditions on farms and pack houses; this is an integral part of our approach to risk management. Futuregrowth Asset Management’s partnership with UFF African Agri Investments was formed to offer investment opportunities to clients while delivering high social impact to rural communities. As consultant to the Fund she monitors social responsibility issues around each of the Fund’s investments and coordinates the Environmental Social Governance (ESG) assessments at farm level. Duncan is a Joint Managing Director of UFF and an Investment Manager. He is a hands-on manager, particularly strong in acquisition and the turn-around of industrial scale farms in Africa. At UFF African Agri Investments she is responsible for assisting in the origination of investments and due diligence process, preparing financial models, market and credit analysis and monitoring the performance of investments. His responsibilities at UFF African Agri Investments are to provide investment support across the entire investment process, as well as assuming the financial reporting responsibilities of the respective fund investments. It is not only my personal goal as it is a legacy for my children and future generations. As a member of the team she assists the Management Team, is responsible for ensuring the smooth daily running of the office and also provides support to the ESG and Marketing functions. Having completed his BCom (Business Management) through UNISA, Shaun worked within management accountant functions in London for four years. Theo is strongly committed to the roll out of new business development into the African continent and ensures ESG is embedded as a dedicated part within UFF’s model. People are capable, at any time their lives, of doing what they dream of. Carmen is an innovative and driven accounting professional with 12 years’ experience in the accounting industry. Carmen manages the financial reporting and budgeting requirements of this multi company group as well liaising with the relevant service providers and stakeholders in the group. Hakob is an Investment Manager at UFF African Agri Investments based in the Netherlands. Hakob has over eight years of global experience in financial analysis. He completed his articles with PKF (Port Elizabeth) and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2003.
