All volunteers will be housed in our volunteer house, located just a 10 minute walk or a two minute drive from the harbor we launch from. It is spacious, comfortable and a home away from home. Personal excursions up the Garden Route or to other tourist attractions are also at your own cost, but don’t hesitate to ask if we can assist with your planning. As apex predators, great white sharks are vital to the health of our oceans. They control the food chain from the top down, feeding on the weakest specimens first and keeping the marine ecosystem in balance. White sharks all have their own personalities and are an intelligent and curious species. White sharks can live to be more than 70 years of age. The largest great white shark ever recorded was in Guadalupe Island in Mexico in It’s peak season for shark viewing and we are seeing fantastic Great White activity on our trips. We limit the number of passengers on White Shark to 22 people in order to provide more shark cage viewing time and a more personalized, exclusive experience. This is reflected in our various conservation and social responsibility initiatives, including our volunteer programme. If no sharks are spotted on your trip, we will provide you and your party with a voucher for another trip. A crucial part of our initiative is to educate local and international visitors about the conservation plight of the great white shark. We run daily trips to educate guests about great white sharks and our current conservation initiatives. Our cage diving trips give visitors the opportunity to see great white sharks in their natural environment, where their grace and beauty is most evident. We limit the number of passengers on White Shark to 22 people in order to provide more time for shark cage viewing and a personal, exclusive experience. White Shark Diving Company is fully committed to the preservation of great white sharks and our marine environment as a whole. In the unfortunate event that you do not have shark sightings during your trip, we do not offer refunds but we will provide you with a voucher (valid for two years) allowing you to join us for another trip free of charge on a date of your choice (dependent on availability). To qualify for a shark dive permit, which is issued by the South African Government’s Department of Nature Conservation, an operator has to comply with a strict set of rules and a code of ethics. Sea worthiness of the boat, qualifications of the crew, standard of facilities, equipment and cages are all qualifying factors. Vessels and equipment are subject to an annual inspection by Government Officials.
