Living in the Western Cape, we are privileged to be exposed to many wineries and great wines, right on our doorstep.
We also enjoy visiting new and interesting wineries and members are often surprised by the venues chosen.

Each tasting takes place at a different wine estate with either the wine maker, owner or tasting room manager as host and is accompanied by a light or more substantial meal, depending on the wine club you belong to. In addition, weekend getaways and an overseas trip(Optional), is included into the programme. Due to our member numbers, we can also often negotiate reduced rates for various other wine shows, tastings and events. We prefer that members pay cash on the night at each tasting as we reimburse the winery and/or caterer from that income at the end of the evening. Living in the Western Cape, we are privileged to be exposed to many wineries and great wines, right on our doorstep. However, with the busy lives we lead, it’s difficult to get around to all of them and to sample the wines on offer. We also introduced a new group called Gastronauts, which is made up of members of all the different clubs under Wine Clubs SA. Membership of this club is automatic when joining any of the other clubs. Only three to four events are arranged on an annual basis for this group. Wineries visited in 2016 with Gastronauts are Hidden Valley, Lanzerac & the brand new Idiom Wine Estate. Clubs educate people about wine, how to enjoy it responsibly and takes members and their guests to wineries they might never have discovered on their own. Where-ever possible, wine-makers will be doing the tastings, which makes every outing a unique experience as the different styles and personalities are so diverse. For the other three clubs, however, as things are sometimes a bit more pricey at certain wineries who have their own caterers or restaurants, we might (on the odd occasion) charge more if needed. Members of the different clubs are automatically members of Gastronauts and will only be charged members fees when these tastings/dinners are arranged (max of three to four events a year! We have recently visited a few new and unknown wineries and are currently in discussion with these wineries to set up tastings in There will be no international trip in 2016 as the current exchange rate will make such a trip very expensive. There will be a couple of weekends away to wine areas some distance away from Cape Town.
