We love the engineers, quantity surveyors, land surveyors, town planners, council officials and community members that we interact with daily. Zöllner Architects was founded in 2001 and is a young, creative practice with a passion for all areas relating to the Architectural Profession. After living in most South African cities, Heidi Zöllner obtained the Bachelors of Architecture in 1991 at the University of Pretoria. She gained international experience by working as an Architect in Germany for 2 years. In 1994 she was appointed Senior Lecturer at the Technikon of the Witwatersrand. Heidi established her private practice, Zöllner Architects at the same time. In 1998 she relocated to Cape Town and worked at a large commercial architectural practice for the ensuing 3 years. In 2001, Zöllner Architects was re-established in Cape Town. She joined forces with Chris Bam in 2002 and was a Director of Bam Zöllner Architects until the practice dissolved in Zöllner Architects is a medium-sized practice with projects that range in type from Educational Facilities, Industrial Buildings, Office Buildings, Hotels, Restoration Projects, Student Accommodation, High Rise Residential Units and selected Residential Projects. We pride ourselves on tailoring our services to the varying and individual needs of our clients. Our service is characterised by a hands-on approach and personal involvement throughout their projects from conceptualisation to final delivery. New warehouse additions to existing industrial building Industrial buildings are definitely a passion of ours and we grab every opportunity to become involved in the planning of these very functional spaces. This project introduced us to the workings of a High Energy Processing facility. The existing premises were limiting our client in the use of the rest of the site and restricted the flow of product on the premises. We assisted the client by creating a separate delivery area, with industrial scales built into the delivery floor area. Protecting the merchandise from the South Easterly wind and driving rain while loading and unloading was another design consideration. The existing building was converted into a despatch bay with new accounting offices and waiting areas for customers. We designed a double story internal office area and canteen area for the staff. We loved this project because the design brief was purely functional.
