We couldn’t be prouder of our son Benjamin Nivison who has just been awarded an internship at SP Diffusion, one of London’s leading suppliers of knitwear to UK High Street retailers. Taking a keen interest in textiles and design, and as one of our Balu fabric designers, Benjamin is in his third year studying textile design at Shenkar University in Tel Aviv. He was shortlisted from a group of over a hundred university colleagues for this two-month summer internship. The amount of talent and creativity visible in South African schools is mind-boggling. Yet few of these talented young people have access to the high quality training needed to turn their talent into a means of participation in the work force for their own and others’ sustainability. We always endeavour to associate our business with upliftment of our communities and are blessed to have a role in this important project. Our shop was transformed into theatre with incredible music, dance, song and poetry from Nyanga Art Centre and Sbonakalisa Ndaba dancers. This and subsequent productions were performed throughout South Africa, most notably at the Grahamstown Arts Festival and Johannesburg's Market Theatre. We always endeavour to associate the Balu brand with upliftment of our communities and are blessed to have a role in this important project. MovingArt is an exciting and profound process that has the potential to connect you to your source of power and inspiration, re-ignite your passion, reconnect you to your soul’s desire, provide a cathartic and healing opportunity to rewrite the story of your life, and awaken your senses at every level. Through a myriad of techniques derived from diverse disciplines, your body will begin to remember its own sacred dance. Using imagination, symbols and metaphors as inspirational guides you will have an opportunity to ride the crest of your soul wave. MovingArt (MA) is based on the notion that our bodies and minds together hold and store our experience to date, with both positive and negative ramifications. MA thus comes from the premise that within every one of us is an enormously rich vault of capacity, ability and brilliance patiently waiting to be uncovered and accessed, made possible primarily through symbol activation and creativity. The symbolic is an important aspect of MA, permeating every part of the process. MovingArt (MA) is a creative synergy of body, mind and soul through dance, movement, art, journalling and reflection. Record themes, feelings, inspirations and intentions in a personal creative journal. Express your soul’s desire and embody it through meaningful expression. The process is personally facilitated by me having run trasformational workshops for the past 28 years, using dance, art and movement as a vehicle for healing, expression and connection. The course was facilitated by Balu with such skill, sensitivity and using an intuitive insightfulness that allowed me to connect to that deepest consciousness of inner knowing that was needing to be set free and be surfaced. The experience of sharing my dance was incredibly powerful and this living of my dance has carried me for the last six years. The space which Balu created with the participants was really an open, loving, safe, nurturing and free space where the collective wisdom was able to provide a wonderful oasis for each participant to replenish and draw insights, support and energy from.
