Our History The school was built in 1955-56 as a High School to serve the population of Bergvliet (an ex-servicemen's township) and the newly developed township of Meadowridge. Since that time additions to the school buildings have been carried out on four occasions. The learners and parents of the school have, from time to time, assisted materially with fund-raising for such important items as the present Gym Hall, the wrought-iron main gates, the bicycle shed, computer room, the Score Box cum Tea Kiosk, the media centre, the walkway and new foyer, the tuckshop, the equipment for the Hall and the new Technology and Art Centre. Anything higher than a level one coaching qualification and a refereeing qualification would be to your advantage. Uniform Shop Bergvliet High School has an onsite uniform shop that caters to all the school's uniform needs. The shop is located next to the school tuckshop, opposite the recycling operation. Most visible was the pavilion which took the brunt of the storm and suffering huge damage to the upper storey. The roof and railings, the brand new camera mounted to the roof, the roof itself, doors and windows smashed, memorabilia ruined, carpeting, equipment damaged and simply the trauma of seeing all that was very sad. The trees along the Firgrove Way boundary were ripped to shreds and huge branches damaged the boundary fence. We are still having to remove branches which were ripped but did not fall to the ground. The main hall roof also suffered damage which we only discovered after several days. The schools insurance cover has covered most of the damage and the assessors have appointed a service provider to begin work within the next week or so. The loan has been approved and the parent body has approved the finance plan of the project at a. The MEC for Education has also given us the green light for the project. The tender process is under way and if all things fall into place smoothly we could begin construction within the next two months. We are looking for dedicated moms and dads (or grannies or cousins) who can form a formidable Book Fixing Group who will attend to damaged Text Books right through the year!
