Youth leadership is part of the youth development process and supports the young person in developing: (a) the ability to analyze his or her own strengths and weaknesses, set personal and vocational goals, and have the self-esteem, confidence, motivation, and abilities to carry them out (including the ability to establish support networks in order to fully participate in community life and effect positive social change); and (b) the ability to guide or direct others on a course of action, influence the opinions and behaviours of others, and serve as a role model).
Camp Genesis, a unique, American-style overnight camp experience in the Western Cape for teenagers ages 11-18, offers 3-day school sessions and one-week holiday sessions from learner development, leadership training, self-discovery programs, environmental awareness, to a variety of outdoor adventure activities for campers to unleash their potential. We are not affiliated with any school, organization or religious group and welcome campers from all over the country. Our goal is to create a safe environment where campers can have fun, feel part of a bigger community, and grow in their hard and soft skills, which is why we create programs around our four pillars: values, ethics, integrity, and character.
Camp Genesis focuses on building life-skills for children, making new friends, trying new & exciting activities and having an experience they will never forget. We welcome campers regardless of gender, race, orientation, or religious background. We say “Welcome Home” the minute campers arrive because we want campers to know this is always a place they can come back to.

ValuesCamp Genesis is a group of professionals who have come together to share their knowledge and experience by developing a high-quality learner development and leadership training for teenagers. The youth who come to us to partake in the camp experience are as different as our team and our programming. Teens become part of a sharing community as a result of what we teach, the chances we provide, and the example we set.
We cherish the world, the people who live in it, and the contribution that each individual can make as an organization. These are concentric circles, not independent values. The values that are essential to us as a company are the same values that we try to impart in the youth we work with.

Our campers are growing up in an increasingly competitive and stressful world where they might opt out of trying an unfamiliar activity for risk of embarrassment or failure. Here at Camp Genesis, we expose teens to a wide variety of activities as we think it’s important for them to learn healthy and rewarding ways to spend their time.
As a result, campers learn skills that they can use for life. Campers are provided with quality instruction and appropriate equipment in an environment that respects and nurtures each individual’s abilities while gently pushing them to challenge themselves in new ways.
