cowgirlblues is a Cape Town-based dye house and design studio specialising in South African wool and mohair. Frustrated at not being able to find suitable wool locally, she decided to start spinning and dyeing her own, and so the cowgirlblues brand was born. We are a design studio and dye house based in Cape Town, specialising in working with merino wool and mohair fibres. Looking for company and a workshop or two to get you going? H&H is the world's largest trade fair for creative handicrafts and hobbies supplies, and it takes place once a year in Cologne, Germany. They pile up in bags and hide in corners and until a clean up is required. It seems as though most of the world's knitters are well into autumn and thinking wintery thoughts. It's a little strange for those of us in the south where the days are getting longer and warmer. The show experience is always intense and demanding physically, mentally and energetically. Many of our hand knitting patterns are inspired by our ready-to-wear product range, and this is one of them. The studio has been insanely busy for the last few weeks (months actually!). With a bunch of beginners coming for a crochet class we were thinking of easy ideas for what to do with just the basics. My standard solution is always to let the wool do the work. Not everything we design and make gets beyond a sample into production. Others are ideas, concepts, or the start of something that may never go any further than what you see right here. And a few of them had some success but are no longer part of our product range.
