PetroMonitor Africa is the leading leak detection and wetstock management specialist of underground storage tanks (USTs) in South Africa.

We detect leaks and issues in tanks and lines before they become a problem. We conduct a three-stage investigation process for tanks suffering from high fuel losses. PetroMonitor Africa offers the most advanced tank and line testing technology available. There is no leak scenario that our test method cannot detect. Historically, tank and line testing has been used to meet regulatory requirements or because of a problem on site. The vast majority of PetroMonitor’s integrity testing is now conducted by customers as a preventative measure to stop problems before they happen. Our tank test measures minuscule changes in the mass in the tank over a specified period time. We are able to test under all known leak scenarios (including empty tanks) using aerospace measurement technology. Qualified technicians conduct the tank and line tests, sending the data to be analysed by our team of qualified engineers. The data is reviewed and a diagnostic report is produced and sent to you electronically, with a hard copy if required. We can detect a level change of 1/1000mm to identify any loss of integrity in your system. We can test tanks at any fill level, including empty tanks, with the same high degree of accuracy. We DO NOT rely on site technicians to make the final call on results. Our engineers can identify leak detection patterns in the data to address customer problems that go beyond a simple pass or fail. Eighty-five per cent of ullage leaks will occur in manways, and by exerting a vacuum force of over 30 kPa (as is standard in some vacuum acoustic tests), a force equivalent to placing a 6.4 tonne weight on the manway is exerted during the test. This force effectively seals any leaks causing a FALSE pass only return when the vacuum is released. With MassTech testing we can advise if liquid is entering or leaving the tank and at what rate, allowing you to accurately assess the next steps. Wetstock Live provides real-time, accurate and actionable network level wetstock information on one platform for all brands of equipment. This means your premises remain compliant while minimising the cost of fuel losses. The daily service has proven to be a valued means of managing risk as any abnormal losses are detected quickly. The monthly wetstock monitoring service is for clients who require an EPA-compliant system that operates over and above their normal processes. Once a month the entire network is analysed to ensure that all systems are experiencing normal fuel trends. Any systems that have high losses are flagged, diagnosed and highlighted. The monthly service includes analysis, data acquisition of wetstock and comprehensive reporting.
