Ensuring quality healthcare and education is available to all South Africans. The SAME Foundation is and association incorporated under section 21 and registered with SARS under section 18a (Public Benefit Organisation), and with the Department of Social Welfare as a Non Profit Organisation. Providing South African health facilities with the infrastructure and equipment to provide a first world service.

The SA Medical and Education Foundation is a (Sect) 18a public benefit organization. Our mission is to create an environment where quality health care and education is available to everyone. We do this by supplying the medical services of South Africa with the equipment they vitally need to enhance the treatment they already offer to state patients. We are committed to helping the citizens of South Africa to equal healthcare no matter what their situation in life. The clinics and hospitals we work with are responsible for the health of over 85% of the population of our country. Poverty and illness is rife and mortality rates are too high. The hospital was originally built to deal with a catchment area of 150 000 people, this area has now grown to 1.5 million people. Due to the high incidence of HIV/AIDS and TB in the area the hospital is one of the designated ARV clinics in the Western Cape. We have an extremely high TB infection rate in our ARV patients who currently have to go to other facilities to be treated. This means that they have to open a file with us for HIV and a second file at another facility for their TB treatment. Being that most of our patients a unemployed or live on minimum wage and have families to support, they can’t afford all the travelling between the clinics for their treatments and are choosing not to get treated at all. This is a major problem especially for the TB patients who end up building immunity to the medication. We devised a way to incorporate TB treatment into their ART services. This will allow their existing ARV patients to get TB treatment under one roof. To do this we had to ensure that they had the right environment and medical equipment to treat these patients for TB. Our sole aim is to improve healthcare and education in poverty-stricken communities through high-impact, focused projects. Without intervention by YOU and the SAME Foundation, these communities won’t be able to receive the healthcare and education that they deserve. This clinic was built in the 1980’s for a far smaller community than it currently serves, this not only means that it can’t cope with the current patient load, but it also means that it was not built with adequate ventilation to prevent cross infection of TB and other airborne infectious diseases. The lack of usable furniture and medical equipment is at such an extreme that nurses are bringing furniture from their homes in order to continue providing health services from this Clinic. The Odidini Clinic is in serious need of renovation and an upgrade to the existing building. It also needs to be fully equipped with furnishings and medical equipment to allow the dedicated nurses to continue providing these patients with much needed healthcare. We were approached by the Kwazulu-Natal Department of Health to assist with this emergency project and have taken it upon ourselves to complete this task in the shortest possible time. The new furniture and medical equipment needed to ensure that the facility is fully equipped amounts to R2 million. To achieve this target, we have devised 4 donation levels and are appealing to companies to partner with us by considering one of the suggested donor packages.
